Summer sewing plans

Summer sewing plans

Last year, life circumstances got me into a bit of a rut, and I didn't spend too much time sewing.  I mean, I still sewed more in 2015 than I ever have in my life.  But not as much as I'd planned.  I've been sewing hot and heavy since spring hit, and I have been making some plans for what to do next.

Of course, it's more fun to think about clothes, but a big part of my plans revolve around home decor sewing.  We've been in our house for over a year and it's time to replace some of these window treatments.

First on the list is bedroom curtains.  Yes, it's nani iro floral.  Yes, I have a dress in the same print in a different color.  Yes, I bought extra so I can make a dress out of it and fulfill my Gone With the Wind dreams.  I wasn't able to convince my husband that painting our bedroom blush pink was a great idea.  But I DID convince him that a bold ass floral print was the perfect fabric for our drapes.  We have four big windows in our room and high ceilings, so I had to buy over 20 yards of fabric to make the eight panels we need.  We just fell in love with the black background and those bold flowers.

I also need to make Roman shades for the living room/kitchen (6 in total).  The ones in there now are very...beige.  We're thinking a bright blue and white print would work.  I also recently bought a could of yards of linen to make everyday napkins.  I'm just going to cut squares and serge around the edges.  We're not fancy.

Speaking of linen, I also have plans for some gorgeous linens from Purl Soho.  When I saw that mineral linen, damn, I wanted it all.  I had to gather opinions to decide which one to get, and I settled on Goldstone.  I also got some of their regular linen in Cayenne.  Both of these are going to be Scouts with split hems.  I'm a Scout lover.

I also got some lemon fabric is from Gertie's new line of fabrics at JoAnn.  Now, I'm not normally into Gertie's fabrics or patterns.  They're cute, adorable on her, but just not my style at all.  But when I saw this lemon print, I immediately thought of the Kate Spade lemon print from a few seasons ago and was like MUST HAVE THIS IMMEDIATELY.  I have a crop top (Scout again) and a skirt (S1873) cut out here!  Two piece sets for all!

Some of the other projects I'm excited to work on this summer...

a rayon Scout/dress | tiger print canvas something?
rayon Vogue 1395 | a lawn dress or top

a lion poplin dress | double gauze Scout | Liberty lawn shirt
double gauze dress | Liberty lawn Archer | double gauze S1873

What in your sewing queue??

Note:  (almost) all the photos in this post were taken from the merchants that I bought them from.  Links are included so you can buy them too!
